Job Description
District Soil Conservation Technician and Administrative Support
Summary:
This position is a newly created hybrid (technical and administrative) position to meet the needs of Moore County. The employee will be required to complete field and office work. Daily tasks associated with the position is estimated to be 80% technical and 20% administrative.
Administrative duties: (\*\*\*\*\*accounting/bookkeeping experience required)
· Accounting/Bookkeeping - including filing tax documents, reconciling accounts, check writing and making deposits. Maintain records according to mandated retention periods.
· Supply inventory and ordering
· Answering phones and forwarding questions to the appropriate person
· Assist in planning events and outreach
· Organize monthly board meeting and report to the board of 5 any financial transactions, bills due and equipment expenses as applicable.
Technical Duties: (no Experience required in the below areas)
· Understands all applicable TDA and NRCS programs available to address resources concerns and explains cost-share programs and payment procedures to applicants and contract holders.
· Conservation planning work in natural resources to address resource concerns related to Soil, Water, Air, Plants, Animals, and Humans
· Assist landowners requesting assistance in addressing resource concerns and makes recommendations on best management practices to address the concern
· Ensures all conservation practices are installed according to NRCS standards and specifications
· Assist in managing Farm Bill Programs
· Assist in writing and administrating grants including the gathering of all pertinent information
· Assist in public education outreach events including the role of planner for the events
· Earn a Conservation Planner Level II certification through NRCS.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED
· US Citizen or authorized to work in the US"
· Submit and pass a federal background check
· Must maintain a valid driver's license
· Knowledge of computers, especially Microsoft Office and GIS Mapping
· Bookkeeping/accounting skills and experience
· Agriculture and/or conservation knowledge is a plus
Salary & Benefits:
· Beginning salary $15.00 per hour with Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave 32 to 35 hours per week flexible schedule
