The Department of Health, Division of Behavioral Health, is recruiting for a Program Coordinator 2 position in Juneau.
What you will be doing:
This position will provide ongoing planning, development, implementation and coordination in the field operations of the statewide comprehensive Prevention and Early Intervention Services section within the Division of Behavioral Health.
This position will be responsible for community development, readiness, support and technical assistance to existing grantees, as well as working with communities looking to develop new programs to improve their overall community health. This position will work closely with the DOH Grants and Contracts, section to review and make program award recommendations, develop and approve and monitor grantee budgets and activities.
The position is exclusively responsible for all aspects of the Alaska Youth Suicide Prevention Program, the Postvention Suicide Prevention Project and statewide coordination of the Alaska Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Training including the management of both, state and federal funds.

This position is being filled in Juneau. This position may be available for hybrid telework which may be modified to flexible in-office and telework arrangements.

Juneau Central Office: Located in Vibrant Downtown, near Alaska State Capitol Building, Court House, Governor's mansion, State and City Museums, and within walking distance to various Restaurants, Coffee shops and Gift stores.
This position is office-based work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Who we are looking for:
Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
Grants Management Laws, Regulations, and Guidelines: Knowledge of principles, laws, regulations, policies, practices, and guidelines of grant or agreement programs, including their order of precedence.
Program Planning: Ensures state/Tribal/community health improvement planning uses community health assessments and other information related to the health of a community (e.g., current data and trends; proposed federal, state, and local legislation; commitments from organizations to act). Develops program goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program, including having administrative authority over the program/project funding, staff, and/or overall operations.
Special Note:
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
“Training” and “education” are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.
