Position Highlights We are seeking applicants for the position of Accountant III. This position assists with managing the finances and compliance for the statewide SNAP-Ed and EFNEP programs consisting of up to one hundred employees with total funding of over $6,000,000. They work independently under the guidance of the Accounting Manager, using extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform Guidance (UG), Sponsor policy and procedure, University policy, and Sponsored Projects policy to provide financial reports and analysis, monitor budgets, ensure compliance with relevant policy and procedure, handle problems and non-routine situations by determining the approach or action to take, and interpret guidelines, procedures, policies and practices, using professional judgment. They perform a wide variety of financial and program compliance functions and interact with and support program management, staff, Sponsor management, and other stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities
Initiate and reconcile internal billings, travel documents, purchases, GECs, SETs and other financial documents as needed.
Review and approve PCards, travel and reimbursements.
Review and reconcile department accounts.
Reconcile all UA SNAP Ed accounts monthly; compiles Budget to Actual reports for Accounting Manager review prior to dissemination to units.
Responsible for complex projects (compliance reporting for grant, department asset inventory, and other accounting related duties).
Checks, monitors, and advises Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, and program leads of necessary annual mandatory trainings, training updates, fingerprint card renewals to maintain contract compliance.
Responsible for all aspects for subaward management for the project including subaward proposal development, scope of work development, acting as liaison with Procurement and Contracting Services to post Requests for Proposal, managing the subcontract application selection process, acting as the liaison with Sponsored Projects and Contracting services for subaward initiation and setup, subaward management including acting as the liaison with unit staff to ensure work is completed prior to paying subcontract invoice, applying GAAP, UG, University, Sponsor, and Sponsored Projects policy to the subcontractor invoice review and reconciliation process to ensure only qualified expense are paid for, acting as the liaison with Sponsored Projects and Contracting services to initiate and execute subaward closeout.
Setup of vendors to include training staff on required documentation for vendors, processing Independent Contractor forms (ICON form, Sole Proprietor Waivers, Scope of Work/Agreements); obtain appropriate signatures from unit business managers and staff; create vendors in financial system; create requisitions for Purchase Order or Disbursement Voucher vendors; assist units with invoice processing; monitor invoices through final payment.
Frequent communication with Accounting Manager I about any discovered issues and for review of work on regular basis

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals via multiple methods (written, verbal, in-person, and virtual).
Ability to work in Microsoft Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Access).
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve various problems or issues.
Ability to prioritize tasks based on complexity.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Working knowledge of UA policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UA Systems including UAccess Analytics and UAccess Financials.
Advanced experience with spreadsheet and database applications including Excel.
Experience in working with budgeted funds in a research or public service setting.
