We are a busy one doctor specialist practice in Venice, Florida currently seeking a full time Medical Assistant/Doctor's Assistant (experience preferred). This position is one of the most important in the office and does NOT require a CMA certificate (we will train the right candidate!). It involves daily and constant interaction with our patients making them feel welcome and comfortable. You will be working side by side with the Dr. to provide excellent care to our patients. A love of people and positive energy in everything you do is a must for this job!
For over 30 years we continue to treat patients with all disorders of the foot and ankle, serving the greater Sarasota County and Venice communities. We have a proven track record, are trusted, and have a delightful, well-established patient following.
Experience with EHR/EMR and basic medical scribing/data entry preferred as this position involves some medical documentation on a daily basis. Medical terminology and electronic health records charting experience is preferred. Experience in podiatry is also preferred. Responsibilities
- Room patients, perform HPI's, reconcile meds, update health history and enter into patient EHR/EMR. Competency in computer skills using an EHR/EMR database preferred
- Turn over, clean/set-up treatment rooms, assist doctor with patient care including routine foot care, minor procedures, biopsies, cultures, wound care, etc.
- Practice compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards
- Keep doctor on schedule by directing flow of patient care in the back
- Liaise with doctor and office manager to identify areas for improvement/potential office flow interruptions
- Maintain a clean back office throughout the day and as necessary, clean and autoclave instruments
- Provide patient education and informative materials for patients
- Inventory control, order medical supplies
Skills
- Proven work experience as a medical assistant/doctors assistant
- Organizational and time management skills to keep office running smoothly and on-time, managing patient flow in the back office
- Working medical knowledge including medical terminology, anatomy, experience with EHR/EMR, and basic procedures like sterile technique, wound dressings
- Good communication skills, actively listen to patient issues and be able to clearly and effectively articulate to doctor and communicate instructions to patients/caregivers
- Knowledge of patient safety, work safety, and sanitation protocols
- Customer service skills, treating patients with sensitivity and respect
- Ability to handle medical records discreetly according to HIPAA regulations
- Ability to multi-task and perform efficiently in all situations
- Reliable transportation a must
