The CMA will carry out various patient care activities and related services under the direction of the Registered Nurse to assist in meeting the physical and psychiatric needs of the patient.
I. Essential Functions of the Position
- Must be able to document and communicate orders accurately in a timely manner.
Must be able to maintain a clean, safe and functional working environment.
Provides accurate and timely information using the utmost discretion and protecting confidentiality of information.
- Interact with assigned patients throughout the shift both informally and in structured activities.
- Medication training and support may also include the following services that are not required to be face-to -ace with the consumer.
- Transcribing physician or AHCP medication orders.
- Setting or filling medication boxes.
- Consulting the attending physician regarding medication issues.
- Ensuring linkage that lab and or other prescribed clinical orders are sent.
- Ensuring that the consumer follows through and receives lab work and services pursuant to other clinical orders.
- Follow up reporting lab and clinical test results to the consumer and physician.
- Documentation must support how the service benefits the consumer, including when not present.
- Face-to-face contact with individuals sitting with the consumer and or family or non-professional caregivers that includes monitoring self -administering prescribed medications and monitoring for side effects.
- Administration of injectables following providers’ orders.
