Description
In this role, you will participate in the total patient care in the designated Oncology Clinic, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and life threatening emergencies. Act as a staff person in the office, assisting in patient care, and maintain high standards of care in the community office. Salary range: $26.45-$34.89 Hourly
Qualifications
Required: * Completion of Medical Assistant authorized program by the Dept. of Education or post secondary institution accredited or approved by the bureau of Private Post Secondary and Vocational education in the Dept. of Consumer Affairs * California Phlebotomy License * Current CPR card * Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life threatening medical problems * Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications * Ability to perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements * Ability to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills * Ability to assist in medical emergencies and office procedures * Knowledge of medical terminology * Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, ancillary departments, physicians and co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner * Verbal skills to effectively convey sensitive information in a courteous manner in person or on the telephone * Skill to accurately perform a 12-lead EKG * Ability to assist in orientation of new staff * Ability to order medical and clinical supplies and maintain adequate inventory * Ability to follow proper channels of policies & procedures, communication & work standards * Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow * Knowledge and ability to set up and assist physician with any procedures * Ability to perform accurate quality control and patient sample testing for waived tests * Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments * Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments * Ability to work overtime in cases of emergency * Skill in maintaining a harmonious work atmosphere, practicing excellent customer service * Ability to push, pull or carry 30 lbs or more * Ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record * Transportation to Ventura and Santa Barbara clinic locations as assigned by managers Preferred: * Ability to schedule patient appointments and encounter patients using EPIC/CareConnect * Knowledge to schedule patient for referrals to specialists and process prior authorizations for medications and home health orders * Minimum of two years experience as a medical assistant in a physician office, medical facility or in an Oncology clinic
