Job Description
Human Resources Generalist
Position Summary: This position will serve as an integral member of the HR Team and will assist with the administration of day-to-day activities of the facility. Responsible for coordinating activities related to the full life cycle of personnel and enforcing company policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional Human Resources support to the Corporate Director of Human Resources.
- Keep abreast of and maintains compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
- Responsible for executing the life cycle of recruitment including sourcing, engaging, screening and assessment of qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Maintains and reports an accurate position control list that adheres to budgeted positions.
- Ensures that all starting salaries and recommendations for salary changes are implemented following Wage and Salary Administration plan. Maintain strict confidentiality of salary information for all employees.
- Conduct required pre-employment and employment screenings including background, drug/alcohol, employment and character references, E-Verify, abuse registry, etc.
- Ensures all required paperwork has been submitted and verified on all new hires prior to training or scheduled shift.
- Schedule, coordinate, and participate in new hire orientation, continuing education and in-service trainings.
- Reviews, tracks and documents compliance with all trainings, continuing education and in-services.
- Process all Personnel Action Request (PAR) to ensure compliance with policy, appropriate signatures, and enter in HRIS.
- Coordinate and assist with employee payroll to ensure it is accurate, submitted timely, maintained with supporting documentations and signed authorizations. Submit data including garnishments, wage request, etc.
- Assist with payroll reporting including payroll variances, budget variations, etc.
- Assist in investigating all employee grievances including complaints of harassment, discrimination, and unfair practices.
- Provides technical assistance and review disciplinary actions to ensure they follow policy, contain appropriate information. Serves as a witness during performance, discipline and termination proceedings to ensure policies are adhered to. Conduct exit interviews.
- Ensures that personnel files are current, contain all required documentation and are kept and secured per policy.
- Completed internal monitoring as assigned. Cooperate with external monitoring. Follow up on action plans when deficiencies are identified by assigned dates.
- Manage the workers compensation process from the first report of injury through the employee return to work full duty.
- Assist employees in completing requested documentation such as securing state benefits, Medicare, etc.
- Responds to unemployment claims in a timely manner. Represents the facility at hearings as needed.
- Prepares and maintains documents and reports related to various HR Topics, such as but not limited to staffing, applicant flow, headcount, turnover, etc. according to schedule.
- Ensures that management and supervisors receive training in policy and procedure.
- Understands and adheres to all policy and procedures.
- Reports instances of abuse in accordance with specified guidelines in the abuse policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Human Resources practices, functions, and applicable employment law and regulations.
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to prioritize work for timely completion in a fast-paced virtual environment.
- Ability to shift rapidly from one task to another and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Skills in Microsoft Office, Relias, Therap and UKG/Kronos HRIS applications.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or Business Administration preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Verifiable 5 years work background along with proven reliability is required.
- Strong labor law and compliance knowledge, EEOC, ADA, ADEA, HIPAA, FMLA, FLSA, USERRA, DOL, etc.
- Strong MS Office Suite Knowledge
- HRIS Experience- Kronos experience a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
