Job Description
Who is Multistudio?
Multistudio embraces the multiple ways in which we think, design, and make to uncover possibilities and engage with the world.
Multistudio collaboratively expands the practice of architecture, brand experience, city design, education design, and interiors to serve complex, and even contradictory needs of our clients and communities. The diversity of thought, people, and disciplines helps us explore places and spark possibilities of economic, social, and environmental change. And although we take on a variety of projects, neither size nor type dictates their importance.
Their impact does.
Position Description
We are seeking an agile full-time HR Senior Manager to respond to a dynamic and creative professional practice and provide guidance on established Human Resource policies, programs, and processes in support of the practice and employee needs. In addition, this role will lead and oversee multi-HR initiatives across all Multistudio locations. The position is an in-office role with the ability to be seated in any of the five Multistudio locations.
Position Responsibilities
- Create sustainable HR strategies with Principals that set the vision, direction, and establish roles and responsibilities for the HR team. Set behavioral expectations, hold the HR team accountable to following up on employee questions and resolving concerns in a timely manner – recognizing the importance of each employee’s needs equally and their distinct roles, opportunities, and potential to contribute to the creative and collective practice of design.
- Collaborate with all Principals to determine Studio-wide HR priorities.
- Work closely with Principals and jointly own the decisions for all people-related matters, including but not limited to employee relations, DEIB, benefits, RFPs, immigration, compliance, recruitment and candidate experience, career development, and performance management. The HR Senior Manager will provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support for reaching equitable goals in recruiting, retaining, and developing Multistudio teams while optimizing performance and engagement with all team members.
- Partner with Principals to identify the need for local market, Studio, and/or operational changes. Determine how to remove barriers that impede change or adoption of change. Responsible for leading Studio communication on all HR policies and initiatives.
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention. Proactively address issues that may impact employee satisfaction and productivity with Principals and employees. Collaborate with a legal consultant if needed. Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and all Studio policies and procedures.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, and other HR-related matters. Prepare comprehensive documentation and recommendations for resolution.
- Partner with management to address performance issues, coach supervisors on effective performance management techniques, and ensure consistency in disciplinary actions.
- Present training opportunities to Principals and create and conduct HR training for leadership and employees.
We are Seeking Candidates with:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
- 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 2+ years in a management role
- In-office presence and a willingness to travel to all office locations periodically
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence best approach trajectories through collaborative processes
- Experience using various HR software programs (Deltek Vision and ADP desired)
- Ability to create, implement, and manage effective policies and processes agreed upon by leadership across the five offices
We seek people who understand HR in a creative field, as the responsibility of design requires nuanced abilities. We seek to humbly engage many, pursue ideas with rigor, and seek meaningful outcomes both big and small. Currently, our 150+ employees work across our Studio locations. Our practice's core values embrace equity, diversity, and creative freedom.
This is a full-time position which includes generous benefits such as vacation time, sick time, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, as well as participation in a 401(k) and employee stock ownership plan.
If this sounds like you, please submit your resume and cover letter. We look forward to getting to know you!
