SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST - PART-TIME
3 DAYS / WEEK
10 MONTH POSITION
The Medford Township Public Schools seeks a tenure track Part-Time School Library Media Specialist. The successful candidate should possess the NJDOE School Library Media Specialist Certification.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To supervise special education programs, teachers, and Child Study Team members in the identification, classification, and implementation of special education and related services for children with special needs. Additionally, the supervisor will assist the Director in administrative tasks with the school counseling department, nursing department, speech and language department, occupational and physical therapy department, behavioral services team and non-public school IDEA services
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position’s essential functions and elements include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluation, selection and requisition of new media center materials
- Management of circulation system for cataloging all media center materials
- Arranging for interlibrary loan of materials for the school
- Promoting the media center as a hub of learning within the building
- Creating an environment that invites whole classes, small groups and individuals to spend time in the media center
- Design and facilitate lessons that develops students’ competency in information literacy across the curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop curricular content that integrates library media and technology skills
- Build and maintain expertise in a wide range of resources and technology, and in the assessing of those materials
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure that the full range of information resources is available to promote student learning
- Evaluate, acquire, and promote resources to meet the learning needs of all students
- Model the effective and enthusiastic use of books, video, multimedia and other creative expressions of information
- Work collaboratively and individually to design, develop, and implement programs that encourage reading for enjoyment and for information
- Maintain a collection that is diverse in format and content to support the learning needs of all students
- Develop and oversee fiscally responsible budget in order to maintain library media center collection, subscriptions and research database platforms
- Guide and assist students and staff in the use of new media and technologies
- Model and promote effective uses of technology for learning and teaching
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and Media Specialists to carry forth and advance the vision of Media Literacy across grade levels PreK-8
- Performs such tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Building Administrator or Supervisor of Instruction.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The Part-Time School Library Media Specialist shall be employed on a ten (10) month contract with salary that is prorated at 60% to account for being part-time, fringe benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment as negotiated with the Medford Township Public School Board of Education and the Medford Education Association.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation (Policy 3223), N.J.S.A. and N.J.A.C.
EVALUATOR:
Building Administrator, Instructional Supervisor and other members of the Medford Township Public School’s administrative team as outlined in the observation schedule.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $33,734.00 - $65,586.00 per year
Expected hours: No more than 22.75 per week
