Job Description
The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for researching and correcting assigned tax issue and/or payroll corrections to the highest level of accuracy and efficiency under minimal supervision and guidance. This role requires a high level of understanding of the different aspects of the tax filing and payment process. This position will work with multiple internal partners in conjunction with our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research, process, and files prior period payroll corrections in the Paycom system
Responsible for identifying and making adjustments as they relate to tax filings
File amended and original tax returns based on agency specific requirements
Research, review, and identify paths for resolution on all assigned tax notices
Research, track, and resolve tax issues as needed
Provides alternative resolutions for clients in partnership with internal department specialists and leaders while using strong technical and negotiating knowledge
Collaborates with tax authorities and internal business partners to manage client tax accounts
Monitors all open assignments to ensure commitments to service level agreements are met
Completes tax rate protests, abatements, account reconciliations and audits
Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Paycom personnel and management
Provides scripted client communication as needed to effectively resolve tax related inquiries
Responsible for assisting Paycom management with special projects as needed including quarter-end and year-end processing
Education/Certification:
High School diploma
Experience:
0-1 year of accounting payroll, or data entry experience
Business acumen acquired form working in a business-to-business setting
Skills/Abilities:
Detail oriented
Well organized
Cooperative and able to effectively work on a team
Ability to use computer applications, printers, copier, fax machine and telephone
Intermediate computer skills in Excel, MS Office Suite, Outlook and Web-based Platforms
Advanced knowledge of mathematics, accounting, tax and finance principles.
Advanced knowledge of complex auditing, reconciliation and general ledger principles
Knowledge of payroll accounting and principles
Demonstrated experience in customer relationships with moderately to very complex products and services with limited supervision
Demonstrated ability to use self-discretion, time management and prioritization of daily tasks and responsibilities
Ability to perform research and effectively solve problems
Ability to build trust and collaborative relationships
Ability to perform research and effectively solve problems
