Our Surveillance and Network Systems (SNS) Mission Area - Surveillance Radar Department (SRD) Advanced RF Systems Section has an immediate career growth opportunity for a Radar Systems Engineer.
The Radar Systems Engineer will join our Radar Sensor Systems (RSS) product line to provide radar algorithm/signal processing mode development to support distributed aperture radar programs. Mode development includes working on multi-function radar capabilities such as Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI), Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI), maritime surveillance, sense and avoid, weather detection, terrain detection/avoidance, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and communications. You will perform radar and communications mode design, conduct design and development of radar and communication waveforms as well as support signal processing and waveform analyses. Additionally, you will develop mathematical algorithms for radar signal processing, make performance predictions and analyze data received from the Radar to evaluate algorithm performance.
Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance within one year, US Citizenship required
Required Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience (3 years with an advanced degree) in radar systems engineering and algorithm development to include radar systems, software engineering, radar signal processing techniques, mathematical / radar mode algorithm development, analytic techniques, and digital simulation models (DSM)
Experience with MATLAB and C or C++ (coding experience is required to implement algorithms into the program’s system simulation)
Experience working with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders
Written/verbal communication skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Actively anticipate potential issues and proactively act to prevent or to mitigate the effects
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Prepare and create technical presentations
Interface with Engineering Teams (e.g., Software, Hardware, Firmware) and Program Management
Desired Skills
Active and in-scope DOD Secret US security clearance is desired
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
Mathcad, Python, or related languages and tools
TF Navigation concepts and algorithms
Radar mode development skills including maritime surveillance, MTI, air-to-air, sense and avoid, weather detection, and terrain detection / terrain avoidance
Digital communications
Target trackers
Strapdown inertial navigation and transfer alignment
Target discriminators and feature extraction / exploitation
Machine-learning experience
Education & Experience Requirements
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Technology, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience - OR
Advanced Degree in Engineering, Physics, Technology, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience
