Job Description
Optimal Home Care is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will work with the revenue team.
Purpose: The overall goal of the Staff Accountant is to ensure accurate & timely financial records for the business. This position will perform bookkeeping tasks, expense reconciliations, and prepare financial statements alongside the Financial Controller.
Scope & Objective: This position will focus on performing the day to day accounting functions for the organization including Accounts Payable, Cash Posting, Revenue Analysis, Bookkeeping, and Financial Reporting. The Staff accountant will work directly with the Financial Controller in decision making for the Accounting department.
Tasks/Duties & Job Responsibilities:
1. Processes invoices / checks and codes bookkeeping transactions daily.
2. Reconciliation of bank statements, accounts receivables and payables to general ledger.
3. Perform Cash Posting including updating claim statuses in the EMR (MatrixCare).
4. Create and submit Contractor invoices to 3rd Party vendors (typically bi-weekly).
5. Performs bi-weekly expense reconciliations for all employees with credit cards.
6. Reconciles expected payments with cash deposits to ensure full reimbursement.
7. Prepare weekly cash flow / financial reports to be submitted to the Controller.
8. Maintain weekly reports on Accounts Payables / outstanding invoices by Agency.
9. Assists with Month-End Closing: Revenue Recognition & Expense Allocation.
10. Analyze financial information and summarize reports from Accounting platform (Sage).
11. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle team on budgets and financial reports related to Revenue projections and Write-Off / Bad Debt estimates.
12. Support in gathering and submitting financial information for outside financial parties such as income tax preparers, 1099 preparers, and cost report preparers.
13. Utilize the Accounting platform (Sage) to promote efficient processes & workflows.
14. Review & recommend modifications to the accounting systems & procedures.
15. Prepares relevant and accurate reports to Management for decision making purposes.
16. Communicates effectively with the team via different communication tools / methods.
17. Reads & responds professionally to emails / phone calls in a timely & effective method.
18. Creates and implements projects as assigned by Management.
19. Prepares and coordinates meetings as assigned by Management.
20. Assists in finding resolutions to work conflicts with the agency.
21. Evaluates current programs and consistently evaluate the viability of these programs as it relates to the vision and goals of the agency.
22. Actively promotes agency in the community for purposes of recruitment of potential staff and/or admission of potential clients.
23. Engages in creating agency branding per agency’s vision and goals.
24. Performs duties that will be assigned by the Administrator, OO and/or Governing Bod
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Business, Accounting, or Management
a. Recommended Certified Public Accountant Certification
2. Work Experience: 0.5 1+ Years of Accounting / Finance related job or internship
a. Open to New Graduates / Minimal Work Experience
3. Qualifications: Hands on professional with a strong desire to learn about Healthcare
a. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
b. Strong team player with attention to detail
4. Technical Skillset: Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Accounting Softwares (Sage)
