Title: Director Sponsorships and Properties
Remote Role
The Director of Mars Sponsorships, Mars Family Properties, and VP of Mars Equestrian purpose is to manage, communicate, negotiate, leverage, and represent a combination of more than 125 business and family requested activities both domestically and internationally across all Mars Inc. business units. This includes the newly created Mars Equestrian Team and Ethel M’s B2B Team.
The Senior Director will champion the efforts to manage all family related sponsorship activities and help serve as a conduit between the business units and the Mars family. This role will also oversee Mars Inc sponsorships and work directly with the brands to leverage, activate, and evaluate these sponsorships.
The role will establish strategy and vision for the remainder of the team and will drive alignment within the team to bring these to reality.
What are we looking for?
Bachelors Degree
Media Training is required
Previous senior leadership experience
Sponsorship knowledge in sports marketing, events, arts and culture a plus
Minimum of 5 years managing and supervising sales associates and agencies
A minimum 10 yrs experience in a private company
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to travel 50% of time which sometimes includes Holidays and weekends when events take place.
Strong negotiations skills
What will be your key responsibilities?
Interact and guide Global and regional presidents and GM’s in the area of strategy and integration of family sponsorship interests into local unit businesses.
The ability to translate awareness of all Mars Inc. unit sponsorship and activities into a cohesive strategy to deploy assets and focus to all units.
Act as a liaison between to senior leaders of all business units and Mars family members and their community-based interests.
Manage new and emerging international sponsorships on behalf of the Mars family (ie, American Air Museum of Duxford, Royal Air Force Museum of London, Churchill War Rooms, Goodwood Estate, etc.
Associate is the face of MARS Equestrian™ in the areas of international media, sponsorships, and governing bodies such as the Fédération Équestre Internationale along with national groups such as US Equestrian Foundation, British Eventing, and Équestre Canada.
Oversee a team to include core Sports sponsorships including NFL, NHL, NBA and other league representations. Resulting in annual sales exceeding $150M+ with a budget exceeding $30M
Oversee the Mars Equestrian sponsorship team
Oversee the Ethel M’s B2B Team
Obtain and manage a cross unit Family Sponsorship budget, several agencies and organizations spanning the globe (UK, Canada, US, Australia)
Direct a Team of direct associates and Directors including agency personnel.
Coordinate messaging and communications when required via Consumer Affairs teams in each business unit.
Direct Interaction with Mars Incorporated Mclean Corp leads in CA, Legal, Finance, and Commercial.
Manage strategy and act as a conduit for large sponsorships and contract negotiations between organizers and Mars Commercial groups.
On-going evaluation and performance standards for all current and new sponsorships and request.
Responsible for the flawless execution of all Mars Family existing sponsorship request as well as the natural elimination of expired programs.
Provide ongoing direction and review of external promotion Agencies who support our team.
