Job Description
Provide unit level research IT design, integration, implementation, modification, and support, typically in an academic or research unit as an entry-level subject matter expert regarding delivery of IT services in support of research and instruction. This individual will focus on maximizing the delivery of high-value consultative services to faculty and their research groups. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Faculty, staff, students, and postdocs. This position typically will advise and counsel: Faculty, staff, students, postdocs, and unit management. This position will supervise: Students and staff
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Consult with end-users primarily from research groups or instructional labs and analyze needs and requirements.
Job Duty 2 -
Design, develop, test and implement technical solutions and IT system specifications for end-users.
Job Duty 3 -
Perform routine system administration tasks for multiple endpoints and servers, including operating system installation and upgrade, patching and deployment of complex engineering or scientific based applications.
Job Duty 4 -
Implement recommended security policies and controls, and provide assistance with backup operations for end-users.
Job Duty 5 -
Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems involving both hardware (endpoints, servers or other cyber-physical based systems), software and other computational and data resources.
Job Duty 6 -
Perform maintenance on desktop hardware and software and maintain documentation and inventory.
Job Duty 7 -
Develop moderately complex scripts or programs to automate monitoring and deployment activities.
Job Duty 8 -
Provide assistance with acquisition process of hardware and software.
Job Duty 9 -
Provide general end-user assistance and participate in development of standard operating procedures.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Two to four years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with the following: Identity and Access Management, Endpoint Management (ex: JAMF, SCCM, and/or Intune) AD and GPO management, DNS and Network management, Inventory, Remote Desktop and Virtualization, Office productivity tools (Ex: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point)
Ability to work with people, communication, collaboration, AD, GPO, inventory, documentation, Windows OS, Mac OS, Linux OS, Server management, printer management, AV support, DNS and network configuration, peripheral and printer support, communication, customer focused, collaboration, partnerships, policies, procedures, automation, and adaptability. communication, customer focused, collaboration, partnerships, policies, procedures, automation, and adaptability.
Must have a desire and ability to routinely learn new skills and tools, be willing to ask questions and to find and test solutions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
This job requires a working knowledge and skill in the installation and maintenance of information technology hardware and software at all layers; requires a solid understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures; excellent skills in problem solving, decision making, customer service, system documentation and communications; good understanding of how to properly secure research workload along with NIST 800-171 I DFARS 7012 compliance issues.

This job requires advanced knowledge of and skill in the installation and maintenance of information technology hardware and software, requiring a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures. Included are skills in problem solving, decision making, customer service, system documentation and communications.
This position is eligible for teleworking but requires regular attendance on campus and occasional work outside of business hours. Must be able to lift and carry things of about 50 pounds. Must be able to travel between campus locations regularly throughout the day, sometimes carrying objects by hand, bag, or cart.
Training shall be provided in these areas of preferred skills, as necessary.

Other Information
Job Grade: I4
Salary Range: $60,707 - $82,561
Salary will commensurate with experience and education
Due to the responsibilities of this position, this role requires an onsite presence on Georgia Tech¿s Atlanta campus (100%).
