Job Description
McLaughlin & Associates, a Butler County CPA firm has an immediate hiring opening for an energetic, carreer focused professional. Recent college graduates are encouraged to join our team. CPA candidates are also encouraged to apply. Training and study material allowance will be provided.
Job Description: The day will go by quickly in our friendly, client service firm environment. Your day may include working with our clients on a firsthand basis, while expanding your knowledge. Areas of focus include taxation, accounting, financial reporting and payroll. As your knowledge expands, so will your level of responsibilities. Compensation evaluation will be a component of the position and your progress.
Accountant:
- Classifies, records and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers
- Debits, credits and totals accounts in computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software
- Provides QuickBooks support via email, phone, or on-site as necessary
- Analyzes, prepares, & inputs payroll data. Process transfer of payroll data to appropriate payroll system. (Quick Books). Ensures compliance with all applicable state & federal wage & hour laws.
- Payroll will include processing weekly, monthly, quarterly, & yr. end payroll reports and payroll tax filings
Tax:
- Prepares individual and corporate returns as assigned along with required work papers in accordance with procedures.
- Reviews tax information supplied by client; meets with client for ongoing support
- Recognizes, anticipates and resolves tax issues; make recommendations
Experience, and Skills/Competencies, Education
- Working knowledge of accounting entries, (debits and credits) and systems are helpful., Ability to operate computer system & programs (Microsoft Office, Quick Books, etc.) Training will be provided on account and tax software.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and self-manage projects as a team member.
Position Type/Hours/ Wage Days and hours of work are typically Monday thru Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Flexible time during summer months for full-time, 4 day work week. Should be available to work extended hours and some weekends during tax season.
