Job Description
Concordia Community Support Services is seeking an entry level Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include processing the organization’s bi-weekly payroll, general ledger journal entry preparation and review using Intacct accounting software, assisting with month end closing as well as financial statement preparation, and detailed account analysis. The Staff Accountant is essential to our workforce at Concordia and is supported through mentoring with the Senior Staff Accountant team. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position at our Concordia’s Cabot campus.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS Degree preferred in Accounting, Finance or related major or Associates Degree with experience
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
- Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications
- Ability to prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
- Knowledge of software to quantify and illustrate complex financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections
- Knowledge of accounts payable tasks
- Ability to maintain the general ledger including posting of journal entries, updating chart of accounts, and creation of management reports
- Ability to analyze detailed account data for purposes of the consistency principle of accounting
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with Human Resource personnel information concerning, new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, 403b enrollees, vacation, sick and personal time eligibility, and various other items to maintain an up to date reporting systems
- Provide accounting assistance to the Accounting Manager
- Assist in resolving discrepancies
- Financial or management reporting
- Maintaining the chart of accounts
- Monthly financial reporting
- Analysis and reconciliation of the development and financial systems
- Maintains the agency’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all agency transactions and assets.
- Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
- Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
- Identifies financial trends and recommends action plans to correct problems.
- Ability to provide accounts payable support.
- Prepare analysis of accounts as requested.
- Reconciliation of monthly contracted labor costs.
- Preparation of month end financial statements for review by Executive Management.
