Job Description
Position Summary
An experienced leader and flight instructor with excellent people skills. This role reports to the Chief of Standards and is responsible for the development and maintenance of the UAA Flight Operations Quality Control Program. This position ensures UAA Check Instructors and Flight Instructors conduct assessments and carry-out training in accordance with UAA standards. The QC Instructor will assist the Chief of Standards in ensuring that training is in compliance with the UAA TCOs, course curricula, and in accordance with all regulations and policies.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Develops and maintains a Quality Assurance Program for the Flight Operations department.
· Establishes and monitors key metrics to ensure instructional quality.
· Communicates with department leadership on the status of the program and level of achievement in accordance with an annual plan and established metrics.
· Promotes flight safety throughout the company, supported by the Chief of Standards, and Director, Safety and Compliance.
· Performs observations of Check Instructors and Flight Instructors to ensure achievement of quality standards for the training operation.
· Proactively identifies areas for continuous improvement and provides data and analysis to support recommendations to the Chief of Standards for improving quality.
· Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, and leadership to Flight Instructors.
· Collaborates with the Chief of Standards in supporting necessary recurrent training and development plans for Flight Instructor staff.
· Attending management and organizational meetings; ensuring two-way communication and alignment throughout the functional areas of the business.
· Acting as a Standardization Instructor and/or Check Instructor, when required.
· Collaborate on additional duties: Collaborate with the team on any other assigned duties necessary to support the smooth operations of the flight academy.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Experience
· 2+ years’ experience as a Flight Instructor.
· 1+ years’ experience as a Check Instructor, Assistant Chief, or Chief Flight Instructor role.
· 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Meets all 141 Assistant Chief Pilot qualifications for Private, Instrument, and Commercial, and CFI courses, including instrument and multi-engine ratings
- Proficiency in Microsoft O365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point, Microsoft Teams,
- Knowledge and experience with SharePoint, PowerBI and other related systems a plus.
- Extensive understanding of 14 CFR, FSIMS 8900, and other regulations pertaining to aviation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred (i.e., Aviation, or Business Administration)
- Gold Seal CFI, Master CFI or equivalent certifications Preferred

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
