Director of Operations Flight Services
Established and successful flight services provider is seeking an experienced, motivated, and driven director of operations for our growing organization in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be involved in every major operations decision. Our company is a leader in Flight Services for major airlines. Expectations will include leading with improvement and development ideas to enhance future growth. Coordinate with all operational areas of the organization to ensure optimal service for external and internal customers.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates with the customer, unit management and leadership team on implementation of changes
- Quantifies the effects of improved processes, work flow, and opportunities.
- Creates documented proposals for improvements
- Collaborates with the customer to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and cost savings
- Supports management and associates in customer change process from an account perspective
- Performs diagnostics on major cost drivers, and leverages customer interaction to drive cost, productivity, and performance improvements
- Initiates operational improvement proposals in conjunction with the customer and account team
- Actively practices change management as a part of global account team
- Actively participates in unit’s performance management system and dialogue, as part of the overall account strategy
- Supports and drives continuous process improvements utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles to maximize departmental efficiencies, minimize waste and improve safety.
- Trains and builds capability in all levels of the plant regarding Lean Manufacturing
- Plans and guides unit management, specific to customer business, in productivity, material, waste, safety, and quality improvement initiatives; analyzes material and information flows; analyzes opportunities in productivity, material consumption, other operation expenses, and space utilization
- Creates documented proposals for improvements and coordinates with unit’s management on implementation of changes; responsible for supporting management and associates in the overall change process specific to relevant account(s)
- Presents progress and plans to key internal stakeholders and customer(s)
- Proposes and understands Company Best Practices and benchmark initiatives; coaches other Continuous Improvement Managers and leads training and presentation sessions
- Provides Lean expertise training. Works on all related training materials, and works with other team members to identify improvements, additions, corrections or clarifications to the training material provided.
- Develops excellent business relationships with customer contacts
- Liaises with business colleagues on significant account issues
- Develops standard operating procedures to ensure customer performance deliverables are met
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Organizational Development, Finance, or a related field required.
- Masters preferred
- Project Management
Work Experience:
- 5 years’ experience working within Operations in a “manufacturing environment”
- Previous knowledge of Airline Catering operations is preferred
- Experience in change management projects
- Experience of process improvement is a plus.
- Experience of working in a Food Hygiene/Health & Safety/High Security environment preferred.
- 5 years of director/executive experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Experience leading projects and people across organizations, and maintaining mandatory standards to ensure the safety of products and processes and to improve product quality required
- Experience analyzing operations and its cost drivers, analyzing material and information flows, and analyzing productivity, material consumption, and operation expenses required.
