A Little Compassion Development Director Job description
Do you have years of experience coordinating fundraising efforts and a desire to make the community a better place? A Little Compassion Inc. and our Nest Coffee House program is in need of a development director who is not afraid to get their hands dirty and take risks. If hired, you will be leading the charge in seeing our non-profit succeed and grow. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to make some tangible changes and help our community become more inclusive, kind, and compassionate.
We are looking for an experienced development staff to join our growing nonprofit organization. The position oversees and implements all fundraising events, activities and campaigns that make it possible for our team to fulfill the mission of A Little Compassion.
The position works with committees, staff, and volunteers to plan and implement successful special events, individual donor campaigns, grants, and donor retention programs.
Responsibilities
Relationship-Building
o Seek out, establish and maintain positive relationships with individual and institutional donors
o Serve as an ambassador for the organization
o Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the organization and its mission in the community at large at all times
o Actively search out, apply to, and access grant opportunities
o Create and send acknowledgment letters for donations on a weekly basis
o Provide volunteers with affirmation and thanks for their support of the organization through calls, tokens of appreciation, notes, and volunteer events
Campaigns & Events
o Plan, oversee, and implement fundraising campaigns and two to three special events annually, working closely with the Fundraising Committee and Marketing Committee
o Inventory, source, and organize necessary event supplies
o Assist in the design and creation of event social media content, press releases, graphics, posters, direct mail, donor materials and other applicable signage for fundraising events and campaigns to provide fundraising messaging and increase engagement
o Analyze post-campaign/event feedback from volunteers and staff to improve future campaigns/events
Record-Keeping
o Create a budget for each event or campaign and report on budget monthly as part of Director’s Report and Fundraising Tracker document.
o Fulfill and update appropriate paperwork for tax exemptions, special event insurance, business contracts, and more
o Complete grant reporting as required by funders throughout the year
o Create a fundraising budget annually with Executive Director
o Input prospect and donor contact information gathered from special events, raffle drawings, and other fundraisers in NEON CRM and Mailchimp
o Process donation information in NEON CRM, working with Bookkeeper, and reconcile them with QuickBooks monthly
Download, organize, and communicate third-party donation information (i.e. YourCause, Blackbaud, Benevity) with Bookkeeper monthly
Leadership
o Provide Executive Director and Fundraising Committee with a monthly Director’s Report detailing fundraising progress and upcoming events/campaigns
o Create Fundraising Committee Agenda with Fundraising Chair and provide leadership during Fundraising Committee meetings as needed
o Clearly communicate with, delegate tasks to, and oversee volunteers, staff, and community members to enhance fundraising success
o Provide temporary support and oversight of staff at The Nest Coffee House in Executive Director’s absence when requested
o Other duties as assigned
Skills
o Proven experience in development/fundraising events and campaigns
o Experience with CRM systems (Neon Preferred)
o Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Google Docs, and social media platforms
o Excellent organizational and leadership skills
o A positive mindset with great problem-solving abilities
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment while being flexible, kind and collaborative
o Attention to detail[JM2]

o Sincere interest and passion for our mission to work with neurodiverse young adults
o BS/BA in Public Relations/Marketing/Journalism/Finance or a relevant field; MS/MA is a plus
Job Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried Position
Salary: $41,600 - $52,000 annually

Schedule:
Basic business hours Monday to Friday 9-5 with occasional nights and weekends when necessary to complete responsibilities. As a salaried position, hours are not tracked for this position and comp time is not accrued for hours beyond a typical 40 hour work week.
