The Acquisition Systems Engineer position is an important part of a government-industry team located in Washington, DC, near the historic Washington Navy Yard. Provide your engineering expertise to Navy surface ship command and control acquisition while building your professional background and technical capability in support of the world’s greatest Navy.
Active Secret security clearance is required to be considered.
Serco provides technical support to its customer, a defense acquisition program management office which is responsible for the development, acquisition, production, fielding, and lifetime support of critical surface ship command and control and navigation systems. This entry-to-junior-level position has aspects of systems engineering and engineering management related to system development and acquisition. Your support of complex Navy systems will give you the opportunity to learn and grow as you contribute to and take greater responsibility for technical projects.
In this role, you will:
Support technical tasking of the program office related to Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) and Navigation systems engineering in an acquisition program office setting. Technical work could be under the guidance of or in collaboration with technical staff from the program office, manufacturer, or government field activities or labs.
Support senior technical personnel and project managers in various technical and management activities related to design, product development, test, or production.
Assist in program office management of projects or initiatives, tracking progress against schedules, recording and coordinating accomplishment of actions, coordinating the development of proposed solutions, participating in risk identification and mitigation, supporting meetings, and preparing meeting and project reports on behalf of the government program management office.
Support the review of technical documents related to system design, development, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation. Review alteration and change documentation for completeness and compliance with specifications.
Apply standard technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to assist higher-level engineers in the review of technical products.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
0-2 years program office or technical experience using your degree.
Secret Security Clearance Required.
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with collaboration applications such as SharePoint and Teams.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
10% travel required.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering degree preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Project desired.
Excellent spreadsheet skills desired.
Familiarity with US Navy systems or platforms desired.
A strong internship or previous DoD acquisition program office experience desired.
