Job Description
Job Title: Transactional Tax Specialist
Department: Accounting
Location: Oceanside, CA-Remote/1 Day In Office
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports To: Director Tax
Status: Full Time
Compensation: $60-65K Annual Salary
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Transactional Tax Specialist supports the tax team in assuring that filings are current. Responsible for business licenses, annual reports, and property taxes are filed timely. Identifies need for additional filings. Ability to work with NetSuite or accounting software. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, work with taxing authorities and third-party software vendors. The position requires efficient and independent work within tight deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all subsidiary business and local licenses, including timely renewals and new applications
- Ensure correct General Ledger coding for all payments
- Reconcile related accounts
- Identifies ongoing process improvements
- Analyze and validate data content required for filings, including databases, files/spreadsheets, and websites
- Ability to research and communicate with local jurisdictions
- Researches and resolves notices from local jurisdictions
- Review fixed asset ledgers related to personal property tax filings
- Support the tax team with special projects
- Utilizes Excel and other automation tools to streamline reporting and recurring tasks
- Maintain effective accounting controls
- Interact professionally with various departments within the organization
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Recent College Graduate with degree in Accounting, Tax or Business. Understanding of US GAAP
- General accounting experience
- NetSuite, WinTeam or similar accounting software
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (vlookups, xlookups, graphs, pivot tables)
- Ability to work independently
- High level of energy, be solutions-oriented, focused and motivated, and display solid decision-making capability, particularly under pressure
- Attention to detail and time management skills
- Willingness to take on additional assignments, roles and responsibilities and assist with ad-hoc projects as needed

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or Business Administration
- Ability to learn systems quickly
