COMMUNITY OUTREACH & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – EXPLORE EVANSVILLE
Title: Community Outreach & Development Manager
Terms: Permanent, Full Time, Exempt
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Community Outreach & Development Manager will cultivate and maintain partnerships with local businesses, hospitality representatives, development agencies, and civic leadership toward the successful organization of community resources surrounding the Great North American Solar Eclipse on
Monday, April 8, 2024. This individual will help lead the Evansville region in effective preparation and communication with its local population and anticipated visitors. Between eclipse planning and after
April 2024, this role will additionally research funding opportunities and complete grant applications that will support Visit Evansville capital projects and local investment. This position reports to the
President & CEO of Visit Evansville and routinely interacts with members of the local Eclipse 2024
Steering Committee.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders to develop local Eclipse 2024 guidance documents such as checklists, fact sheets, planning, and operations manuals.
- Assist in the development and execution of Eclipse 2024 marketing strategies and ensure websites and other platforms are maintained with current information and digital assets.
- Attends relevant community meetings and acts as the primary point of contact for regional leaders and constituents by fielding questions and connecting them with the appropriate organizing body.
- Maintain a calendar for outreach events and work closely with community partners to plan and execute certain outreach events.
- Ensures that Eclipse 2024 project milestones and goals are met in accordance with guidance documents and communicates updates regularly to Steering Committee.
- Create visual and written content as needed, including press releases, public relations collateral, and sponsorship materials.
- Brainstorm potential partnerships and methods for engagement with the local community and create a database of current and prospective Visit Evansville & Evansville Sports Complex supporters.
- Investigate outside funding prospects for Visit Evansville capital projects and local investment and assist the President & CEO in submitting proposals for applicable grants, endowments, and foundations.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, marketing or a related field, or a minimum of three years’ experience in an equivalent professional environment.
- This position requires excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of marketing tools and strategies, including traditional and digital mediums.
- High-level attention to detail and organization skills.
- Graphic design experience desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required.
- Ability to prepare and present reports on outreach and development activities and progress.
- Proficient multi-tasker with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
WORK AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The work environment is a traditional office environment with people, minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
- On occasion, this position will assist at events, with outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements. During such times, this position requires the ability to bend, reach, stand or walk for long periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
