Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking an entry level Project Accountant to work closely with project managers to help ensure profitability on projects by preparing invoices in accordance with contracts and ensuring job cost accuracy. This position will be based in our Hillsborough office. After an initial training period there may be opportunities to work remotely on occasion.
Responsibilities:
Set up new projects in Deltek Vision
Verify accuracy of all information including time and expense and project budgets
Monitor project progress and effectively communicate with project managers regarding contracts, change orders, billing schedules, invoicing, and project budgets
Review the accuracy of labor and costs expensed to assigned projects and reallocate if required
Update and run weekly backlog reports to review budgets and close out status
Maintain billing and project folders with appropriate documentation including contracts, change orders, consultant contracts and invoices
Review and post sub-consultant invoices
Prepare and send draft/final invoices (including applicable supporting documentation) for all billable projects in accordance with the contract
Perform project closeout
All work in compliance with FAR, GAAP, and company cost accounting policies and procedures
Proactively make recommendations to process improvements
Perform additional assignments as directed
Skills and Qualifications:
Associate degree in accounting or similar field or 2+ years of equivalent experience preferably in an engineering services industry.
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in Excel, Microsoft Word, and project accounting software.
Knowledge of standard contract terms and how they are applied in the billing process preferred
Respond well to changes in priorities without compromising the quality of work.
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Great time management skills and ability to work in a time sensitive project accounting functions
Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making;
Ability to adapt to new concepts and change
Excellent communication and relationship building skills;
Strong customer service orientation, both internally and externally.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvement and problem solving
