Job Summary:
What does Systems Integration & Test (SI&T) do?
SI&T integrates, verifies, and validates our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work hand-in-hand with our customers.

The Naval Radar Systems Department within the Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) Directorate is searching for a systems engineer to support the SPY-6 program. Members of the SPY-6 Backend subsystem grooming task are responsible for connecting individual cabinet racks into the full backend subsystem, configuring the hardware (servers and switches), installing the operating system, resolving issues with connectivity and communications within the subsystem, and installing of tactical software. This Systems Engineer II role is based out of Portsmouth, RI, and requires occasional local travel to our facility in Marlborough, MA. Business travel to support ship installation is also required. The role will require extended hours and may require the employee to support off-shift hours.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Perform configuration, integration, and verification testing to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues seen during configuration of SPY-6 backend subsystem
Analyze data to identify and resolve system communication and networking issues
Support ship installations with occasional travel to the shipyard
Documenting and tracking changes to existing documents
Occasional travel to Marlborough MA in support of program activities
Support training team new members in configuration tasks
Please note: This position requires you to work ONSITE. No remote work available.
Qualifications you must have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or Math and two (2) years of relevant experience OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and relevant experience. Relevant experience in this instance is:
Experience configuring Ethernet servers and switches using the Linux operating system
Experience in a test environment with experience in test execution, including the use of lab/field test equipment to troubleshoot system communication & networking issues
Active and transferrable US Government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Experience with the SPY-6 product line
Experience with radar system integration in a shipyard environment
Experience interfacing with internal and external customers, and finding technical solutions to complex requirements
Understanding of software development collaboration tools (Clearcase, SharePoint)
Experience with programming in MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or other programming language
