Job Description
A high-profile NBA player is looking for a dynamic, hardworking, loyal, and trustworthy Personal Assistant in their day-to-day life. The ideal candidate will be professional, dependable and self-starting individual who is able to provide the utmost support for his personal life and robust career, both of which have a very busy schedule.
This assistant will serve as the main point of contact for the player and will manage all of the player’s emails and respond on his behalf in a timely manner. Professional written and oral communication skills are necessary to ensure that all communications reflect positively on the player. Facilitating communications and inquiries, as well as managing promotional and event bookings will be needed. Heavy calendar coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders will be a part of each day. The candidate should be able to prioritize what is most time-sensitive and critical for that day. Someone who is able anticipate needs, stays ten steps ahead and can take direction well will thrive in this environment.
The perfect candidate will have a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail as well as planning, communication and organization skills. The candidate will work both independently and with a team of others to support this player, and should be able to work well in both scenarios. Reporting to a high-profile client within the sports industry, the personal assistant will have the opportunity to experience a variety of fast-paced environments with occasional travel to assist in working functions. The ideal candidate will be effective, efficient and flexible capable of maintaining a high-level of professionalism and discretion.
Below are examples of duties that this role will entail:
- Reading and responding to all of player’s emails in a timely manner and with professionalism
- Heavy calendar and scheduling support for meetings, travel, promotional events, trainers, etc. (familiarity with various time zones required)
- Ensure constant communication of calendar and commitments
- Responsive to time-sensitive information and proactively providing updates on statuses and progress
- Keeping an eye on all upcoming travel and providing flight and travel options for flights, ground transportation and hotels for himself as well as family members traveling to see games, for vacations, etc. (without the use of a travel agent); international travel knowledge is also a plus
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as his NBA team, social media manager, the non-profit foundation he’s involved with as well as personal staff including trainers, chefs, housekeeping and construction teams (in the process of building a new home)
- Researching and finding recommendations for service providers as needed (some examples may be movers to help when his new home is completed, housekeeper, landscaping, nanny, etc.)
- Support moving and relocation needs between his current home and work city as needed
- Scheduling and maintaining non-work related appointments (DMV, doctors, dinner reservations, etc.)
- Travel with player to large events and act as the liaison between the event managers and the player ensuring all logistics and communications run through you
This position has a lot of direct contact with other high-profile individuals so professionalism is expected at all times. Must have a reliable source of transportation and a clean driving record. A background check and confidentiality agreement will be required as well.
Experience:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple projects, set and meet deadlines
- Must be organized, proactive, independently self-motivated and a team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, email and social media platforms is preferred
- Experience in sports, entertainment or other fast-paced industries preferred
- 3+ years in a personal or executive assistant role preferred
Location: The player is based in the Washington DC area, but the candidate can be local or remote. If the candidate is based in a different time zone, they will need to be able to support a general work day of 9am – 6pm ET (i.e., if you’re based on the west coast, your general schedule would then be 6am – 3pm PT).
Schedule: Candidates will need to be accessible and available daily with majority of tasks achievable during the Monday – Friday work week. Some travel will be needed for events. Candidate should be available for travel biweekly (as needed) between athlete’s home and work city.
Salary: Dependent upon experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
