Position Summary:
This entry level position supports aircraft structural design engineering. Activities include design, static analysis and/or fatigue and damage tolerance analysis. Duties include development of design data sets (3D modeling, 2D drafting, Bill of Material, Change Notes), supporting modifications or repair activities, and performing analyses for either metallic or composite aircraft components.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform various design engineering activities to support production of aircraft or in-service aircraft.
Assignments include detail part modeling and sizing, layout maturation, trade study analysis, weight reduction efforts, certification activity, or in-service support.
Create or modify technical documents such as: Design Datasets, Product Structures, etc. with high quality and efficiency.
Develop solutions autonomously to a wide range of routine to moderate levels of technical problems, requiring resourcefulness and innovation.
Applies technical principles and follows detailed instructions.
Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to supervision.
Education / Special Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials is required.
A Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
A Minor in Computer Science is useful.
Internship in the aerospace engineering field with airframe structure experience is beneficial.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Exposure to airframe design, stress analysis, composites, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part 21, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, PATRAN and HYPERWORKS is desired.
Position requires basic knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods with a basic understanding of design principles.
Background, including MS Office and Google Suite.
Proficiency with coding in Python, a plus.
Communication Skills:
Must understand, read and write proficiently in the English language to read and understand appropriate manuals, schematics, and technical information necessary to adequately perform duties.
Conversational in French and/or German is a plus, but not required.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
