Job Summary:
As a Principal Systems Engineer at Mercury Systems, you will be collaborating with cross functional engineering teams to support technical baseline development across the system lifecycle. Support systems engineering tasks related to development of Mercury products as well as support customer programs that use Mercury products. Program support activities also includes development of subcontract data item deliverables. Leverage strong Systems Engineering background in the development of product requirements as well as verification and validation of systems components. Support the continued process improvement within one of the fastest-growing segments of the business. Ensure that systems are built, integrated, and tested according to internal product requirements and quality standards.
You will be a part of a dynamic, geographically dispersed, experienced, and highly skilled, full-service, rapid development engineering team. We all work together to deliver our innovative product line which includes our Rugged Edge Servers and our OpenVPX subsystems to our Aerospace and Defense customers. We are an agile team focused on delivering innovative, high-quality products to our customers on time and on budget.

Job Responsibilities:
- Leveraging existing corporate engineering tools and processes to effectively manage and maintain a dynamic product capabilities requirements model to provide for effective and efficient design reuse
- Defining processes for capturing and modeling system architectures, decomposing and deriving requirements in support of system specifications, developing configuration baselines associated with Mercury products and systems
- Acting as a program lead Systems Engineer providing work leadership for teammates
- Performing system performance analysis and identifies potential implementation risks
- Establishing relationships with critical leaders in the industry
- Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses against program objectives while taking into account risk, schedule, and budget realities
- Providing multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives
- Collaborating with Product Management and Sales functions to address market needs through derivation and allocation of requirements to Mercury products or new product concepts and designs
- Support generation of major account technical proposals for both custom and standard products
- Managing the analysis of technical features of competitive architectures or solutions
- Consulting with customers on technical issues and delivering technical presentations
- Providing an accurate assessment of the scope of work for projects and accurate assessments of progress
- Understanding and addressing cost, schedule and performance impact and provides trade-offs for programs decisions
- BS or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 7 years' experience as a Systems Engineer
- Aerospace & Defense, Semiconductor, Medical Device, Communications, or related manufacturing industry experience
- Experience executing Systems Engineering principles and supporting traceability of requirements through validation, integration, and test
- This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens
- Advanced Degree
- Active Secret Clearance
- Generating major account technical proposals for both custom and standard products
- Direct experience validating, verifying, and deploying embedded computing systems and sub-components or rackmount servers
- Hands on experience developing inputs (Feature, stories) for Agile development execution
- Direct experience providing Data Items in support of US Government contracts and/or subcontracts with Prime contractors
- Familiarity with server systems architecture and understanding how to optimize performance, SWaP-C (size, weight, power, & cooling). Knowledge of Intel processor family characteristics as well as networking (Ethernet and InfiniBand networks.)
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools
- Leadership/Mentorship/Coaching experience (formal or informal)
