The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Construction & CIP Support is looking for an Engineering Associate to help us
Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
The successful candidate will work directly with management to directly oversee construction project teams. You will be one of the Project Engineers that lead staff in field inspections, documentation, and ensuring that civil construction contract work meets all specifications, construction drawings, and materials-testing requirements. You will ensure that project personnel perform required inspection duties, quality and quantity documentation, contractor pay estimates, reports, written correspondence, and the project close out documentation. Your duties will include field engineering tasks on state and federally-funded public construction projects.

The working environment you can expect:
Our office is located at 3.5 Nome-Teller Hwy in Nome, however, this position will likely be assigned construction contracts in different communities and will require extended stays in those communities during construction seasons. This will likely take place during summer months, but not always.
Who we are looking for:
Experience as a Project Engineer in construction contract administration.
Ability to lead and supervise a team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the public.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform mathematical computations applied to engineering operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering, architecture, land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month). A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience.
