Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Membership is responsible for driving, leading and managing a seamless and meaningful YMCA experience, from a person’s first point of contact with the Y to the daily engagement of current members.
The Membership Director must exude professionalism and confidence in knowledge of YMCA programming, implementing the Y’s Member Engagement Principles of welcome, connect, support and invite during all member and guest interactions.
This position requires a deep knowledge of sales and customer service, fiscal and data analysis, and outreach and retention strategies while being able to continually develop and motivate a team. This position will focus on the member experience by managing strategies in marketing, communication and facility coordination in order to attract and retain members, positioning the Embarcadero YMCA for continued growth.
The Membership Director should have strong knowledge of fiscal management skills, business operations, sales and data analytics. This person must be able to develop strategies to meet sales/membership unit targets as well as increase retention, engagement, and appreciation of current members.
This position will provide strategic leadership and support to the Embarcadero YMCA Executive and team for all branch marketing and communications including: promotions, internal and external communications, web and social media presence. They will directly supervise all Member Engagement staff. Supervision responsibilities will include hiring and training new staff, as well as providing on-going coaching and training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 21 years or older
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional and community leadership experience
- 3 + years in a supervisory role focusing on customer service, sales and marketing
- Experience working with diverse populations, and community liaising and development
- Available FT Monday – Friday. Early mornings, nights and weekends as needed
- YMCA approved CPR & FA and Child Abuse Prevention training within 60 days of hire
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and verbal/written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Fingerprint background check clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Director-level leadership experience
- Bi-lingual (Spanish, Cantonese)
- Experience with Adobe and/or Salesforce
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $67,000.00 - $79,843.00 per year
