JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for the oversight, monitoring, and driving of company culture, programs and systems to enable diverse and inclusive work environments. Develop and implement all diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) programs for Hawaiian Electric Companies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Drive the development, design, execution, and delivery of DEIB strategy, programs and initiatives that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture and enhance the ability to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing, and progressive workforce. Serves as the resident expert bringing insight on best practices and leading methodologies related to DEIB.
Provide strategic leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace to employees at all levels, including executives, management, Human Resources.
Develop the overall learning strategies for the organization, develop yearly plan for leaders and employees and ensure timely implementation and facilitate as needed.
Create and coordinate communication and distribution of resources with internal and external stakeholders in support of DEIB activities, including managing DEIB resources available on the Success Factor’s Learning Management System and intranet, to ensure they are aligned with company priorities and DEIB strategic goals.
Keep informed and makes proactive decisions and practices regarding pending industry and compliance-related changes, trends, and best practices and assesses the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure alignment with diversity and inclusion goals and objectives.
Conduct research of internal and external sources to identify best practices, trends, and emerging issues related to diversity and inclusion.
Advise leadership on strategies to incorporate leading diversity and inclusion practices into our company program and all aspects of the organization’s operations.

Review all internal processes and procedures to ensure equity and inclusivity with all stakeholders.
Work cross-functionally to enhance recruitment process, build toolkits, and track goal progress to evaluate and measure DEIB programs’ impact.
Provide analysis of legislation and regulations related to DEIB and oversee and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

Knowledge Requirements
DEIB concepts and theories: A deep understanding of DEIB concepts, theories, trends, and best practices. This includes knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as the factors that contribute to systemic inequality and discrimination.
Corporate culture: An understanding of the corporate culture and how it impacts DEIB initiatives. This includes knowledge of the company's values, policies, and practices, as well as the attitudes and behaviors of employees and leaders.
Legal and regulatory requirements: Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to DEIB, such as equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws, affirmative action, and diversity reporting requirements.
Data analysis: The ability to analyze data related to DEIB, including metrics on workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to use this data to develop insights and recommendations.
Program management: A strong understanding of program management principles, including project planning, budgeting, execution, and evaluation.
Change management: Knowledge of change management principles and the ability to effectively manage change related to DEIB initiatives.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and to facilitate difficult conversations related to DEIB issues.
Collaboration: The ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization, including HR, legal, communications, and senior leadership.

Experience Requirements
Demonstrated experience in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, including knowledge of DEIB theories, best practices, and challenges.
Experience working in a corporate environment, including experience with corporate culture, policies, and practices related to DEIB.
Several (5-7) years of related exempt-level experience, researching and developing corporate policy, program development, marketing, or business administration.
Experience (3-5) years of experience in public speaking, facilitating, or instructing
