Job Description
Clinical: Taking and recording medical histories. Explaining treatment procedures to patients. Preparing treatment room for patient exams and assisting the physician during examinations. Assist in packaging, cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment. Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens. Performing basic laboratory tests. Communicate laboratory and test results to physicians and/or nurses. Instructing patients about medication and special diets. Obtaining Vitals, taking manual blood pressure, can give Muscular Flu Shots, IV’s and can draw blood. Ability to calculate dosages (may be required to demonstrate via passing yearly written medication exam).
Administer Medications: (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, inhalation, rectal, topical) using proper technique this duty can only be performed after the MA has demonstrated competency to clinic RN yearly, if applicable per department.
Administrative: Scheduling appointments. Updating medical records and charts. Answering phones. Filling out insurance forms and other kinds of paperwork. Putting messages in EHR System. Follow HIPPA policy.
Medical Assistant Qualifications and Skills
· Experience of at least 5 years as an LPN and 3 years as an MA
· Qualified Medical Assistant (MA/RMA/CCMA/CNA/GNA) with experience in a medical office
· MUST be able to pass a criminal background check and a drug test
· MUST have EMR experience and 2 years of clinical experience
· MUST be covid vaccinated
· MUST be reliable and possess sound judgment, good communication and business acumen skills
· MUST have a great attitude and be reliable
· MUST be CPR Certified (through the American Heart Association)
· Possess good computer knowledge and good typing skills
· Superior listening, verbal, and written communication skills
· Ability to handle stressful situation appropriately
· Language preference – English / Spanish - preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
