Job Description
Treasure Valley Hospital is a 28-bed, Joint Commission accredited surgical facility located in Boise, Idaho, which is consistently recognized for patient satisfaction. Check out our Google Reviews to see why our patients recommend us so highly! TVH has 10 OR's and specializes in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Gynecology, General Surgery and others. We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dedicated PreOp Team. This is a full-time position, day shift.
License or Certification:
- Certification as a "Certified Medical Assistant" required.
- Current BLS certification is also required.
Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program required.
- Successful completion of a venipuncture class is required.
- Minimum 1 year experience preferred.
Interpersonal Relations: Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, teammates, contractors, and vendors must be in a manner that is friendly, positive, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior must promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is consistent with hospital standards and guidelines to ensure a pristine healthcare experience.
Patient-related Requirements:
- Willingness to participate in on-the-job training
- Ability to assist nursing and medical staff with routine examinations and patient treatments
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family
- CMA involves patient and family in patient education
- Communicates with team members about patient's clinical condition
- CMA maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures, and standards
Skills and Abilities:
- CMA uses multi-line telephone, computers, diagnostic equipment, orthopedic equipment, and patient care equipment
- Documents in patient record
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Works with minimal supervision
- CMA uses reasoning ability and good independent judgment
- Able to organize/prioritize work
Physical Tasks:
- Light to extreme physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)
- Frequent prolonged standing and walking
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Environmental Conditions:
- Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
- May be required to handle emergency or crisis situations
- Subject to many interruptions
