Role Requirements:
We are seeking an individual to fill the position of Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The Director of EMS oversees the daily activities of EMS department, establishes organizational goals, and directs all assigned EMS personnel. Directs the staff and programs of the emergency services unit. Acts as a liaison between the Melissa Memorial Hospital and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department. Develops and implements a business plan to drive service-line growth and improve operations in terms of quality and processes. Ensures quality care for patients. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A paramedic is required as well as a critical care paramedic is preferred. Will be working with interfacility of patients with critical and interfacility care for the hospital.

*Ways you’ll contribute:\*
- Oversee East Phillips County EMS 911 response.
- Typically acts as hospital safety officer.
- Directs development of specific short and long-range programs and project plans to obtain the facility objectives for the EMS Department.
- Responsible for the planning and coordination of Emergency Services daily activities, the operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as major impact on all other hospital areas.
- With support of Team leads, oversees EMS staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Ensures that staff are compliant with all required licensures/certification and continuing education.
- Oversees the prioritization of projects and directs resources to ensure the attainment of department goals.
- Responsible for ensuring the department meets and adheres to all applicable federal, state, JCAHO, and local regulatory agency requirements and for ensuring the department and facilities success in any regulatory survey.
- Participates on various committees and other task forces as may be established by management to plan, organize and drive the facility.
- Responsible for making decisions required to maintain acceptable operations based on strategic goals and policies. Displays ingenuity and foresight in determining the most appropriate solution in the absence of established guidelines.
- Development of treatment protocols, guidelines, and/or plans for the EMS department.
- Makes recommendation on contract initiation, renewals, and termination in relation to the EMS department and/or its equipment.
- Responsible for special projects as assigned by the Senior Leadership team.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without comprising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
- Ensures staff is educated on established guidelines.
- As a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriately to a manpower request.
- Working closely with team members in the organization.
Candidate Qualifications:
Minimum
- 3+ years working as Paramedic.
- 1 year leadership experience
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Self-starter who is ambitious and dedicated to providing quality patient care.
- Ability to manage project tasks, timelines, and multiple priorities.
- Ability to influence people at the provider level.
- Ability to lead others in a team environment.
- Knowledge of best and emerging industry practices
- Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness & flexibility.

- EMS support to an organization OR five (5) years of experience working as a Paramedic Manager/ Supervisor.
- Critical Care Paramedic or ability to earn designation from an approved body.
- Experience Managing or leading an EMS department or team.

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. Our EMS is on standby 24/7, we have Air Life stationed at our facility, as well as motivated staff in the building.
