What Would You Do? The right candidate will run an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, the achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all service records. This person is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization. They will ensure that the daily inventory of technicians’ time is consistently sold to service customers.
What will you be responsible for?
Effectively manages a high volume of work.
Manages and adapts to changes in a fast-paced, productive, and dynamic shop.
Assures proper repair order flow to satisfy warranty/dealership/business office requirements.
Communicates with customers before issues arise and gets involved in escalated customer issues.
Develops strong working relationships with all other departments.
Directs and schedules the activities of all department associates.
Ensures that all the necessary shop equipment is in proper working condition.
Ensures that proper service sales techniques and processes are being used.
Ensures that all service department employees follow safety policies, rules, and practices and that they report any and all accidents immediately.
Completes all applicable Workmen’s Compensation paperwork and accident investigations and follows up regularly on all Workmen’s Compensation cases.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the service department.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat referral business.
Maintains accurate records and ensures warranty parts retention as outlined, following all manufacturer requirements as outlined in manufacturer and company policy and procedures manuals.
Reports to management any circumstances that compromise the integrity of the dealership.
Serves as liaison with factory representatives in the absence of Fixed Operations Director or GM.
Works with the parts department as appropriate to ensure proper stocking of high use parts.
Generates and continually strives to increase labor sales.
Maintains the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Sets individual and total shop sales objectives.
Assigns technicians and other service personnel to appropriate work based on skills and efficiency.
Assures all technicians stay complete on all necessary training and certifications and establishes a path for growth and advancement.
Maintains a high level of shop cleanliness, equipment repairs, and general shop appearance while ensuring safe working conditions.
Obtains and maintains control of the special tools necessary for the repair and service of the vehicles that the dealership sells.
Schedules training as necessary to properly repair and service all the vehicles that the dealership sells.
Submits warranties each day and works with Warranty Administrator and Accounting to ensure we are collecting in a timely matter.
Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all service department staff.
In coordination with the GM, prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
Do you have the necessary education and experience?
High school degree or equivalent, bachelor’s in business or related field preferred.
5 plus years’ experience in an auto repair facility.
5 plus years’ Supervisory experience preferred.
1 or more years DMS experience preferred.

Base compensation, Exempt: $80k-$150k annually DOE
