Responsibilities
The Non-certified Medical Assistant provides care for patients under the direction of the physician or nurse. Key responsibilities of the role include preparing patient for examinations, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and documenting care in the medical record. Demonstrates competency and skills to serve patients of all ages including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Performs other duties as delegated.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate from an accredited medical assisting program required.
Applicants must have graduated from their program within the past four years, with proof of graduation via official transcripts from the accredited program.
Applicants whose date of graduation is four years or more prior to the date of their application must also provide evidence of relevant work experience for at least three of the last five years.
In lieu of graduation from an accredited medical assisting program, will accept applicants who can provide evidence
of fulltime employment as a medical assistant for a minimum of five out of the last seven years.
Required Minimum Experience:
Specific experience in practice specialty may be required.
Required Minimum Certification:
Must successfully pass a Medical Assistant credentialing body examination (NHA) within first 90 days of employment.
Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association, prior to hire date.
Required Minimum Skills:
Ability to read, write and speak the English language; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care; Ability to multi-task essential; Ability to function in stressful situations; Strong detail orientation required; Computer skills required; Time management and strong organizational skills are required; Basic computer skills required. Ability to enter information into an electronic medical record required; Basic medical terminology required.
