Description:
The General Clerk I (GC I) supports the processing of immigrant applications and petitions by performing repetitive, general file activities following written work procedures to produce accurate, complete, time-sensitive files.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sort Files
Remove contents from envelopes/packages
Identify files for repair
Assemble physical files
Interfile and fasten documents into files
Retrieve files
Generate manifests
Prepare files for shipping
Generate screen prints and barcodes
Perform searches and queries
Scan file barcodes
Verify data and updates data
Scan and adjust documents
Photocopy documents
Deliver files to identified destination
Update systems from barcode scanning or keying
Review file for final action steps and secures loose documents
Place files on shelves
Prepare materials for destruction
Meet performance requirements and acceptable quality levels for assigned tasks to achieve contract compliance
Support both mail room and file room duties as workload dictates
Perform other duties as assigned
We have two available shift for this position:
1st Shift: $16.20 per hour + $4.41 per hour for benefits
2nd Shift: $16.20 per hour + .45 shift differential + $4.41 per hour for benefits
Requirements:
U.S. citizenship
High school diploma or GED required
Prior clerical and/or office experience (preferred)
Prior data entry experience (preferred)
Proficiency with MS Office Suite and computer/digital literacy
Willing to work 1st shift from 6:00am to 2:30pm or Willing to work 2nd shift from 3:00pm to 11:30pm
Willing to work additional hours/overtime when needed
Ability to meet typing (wpm) and accuracy requirement
Ability to meet physical demands and successfully complete a physical capacity test
Ability to successfully complete pre-employment credit check
Ability to obtain and maintain government security investigation
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift boxes weighing between 21-50 lbs, regularly lift boxes weighing between 5-20 lbs, and occasionally lift boxes of files, individual files or bundles of paperwork weighing between 0-5 lbs. Frequently make repetitive hand and wrist motions while inserting/removing staples in large files, shaking files, or keyboarding. May sit or stand for long periods of time. Regularly required to reach overhead, with hands and arms, bend, twist, stoop and go up and down ladders with boxes of files weighing between 21-50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Employee will have close visual contact with a computer monitor constantly.
