Position Summary:
The Kuskokwim Campus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is looking for a Student Assistant to assist with office tasks. This position provides great experience, and will include the opportunity to learn real-world accounting and fiscal processes and procedures.
Duties:
100Assist with the data entry of purchase request. Assist with reconciling pro card transactions. Assist Finance Team with special projects. Assist with filing. Assist with general office duties including digitized filing, making copies, scanning documents, faxing, and mailing. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as directed.Essential
The Student Accounting Technician will assist in the processing of Purchase requests within the college to include data entry, pro-card reconciliation and filing. This position is an entry level position and may also provide support in other areas in the department. Candidates should have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented and deadline driven environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and terminology.
Ability to perform basic math: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and find percentages.
Ability to take on-going educational courses to stay technically current.
Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work with faculty, staff and students in a friendly and positive manner.
Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information.
Ability to use judgment and discretion.
Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
Ability to use a computer and knowledge of standard and specific business applications, such as computerized accounting, e-mail, electronic spreadsheet development, database, and word processing; ability to learn new software applications.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Currently enrolled in an Accounting/Finance degree or certificate program required.
Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
Required Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits, with minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
Salary Information:
This is a part-time, 9-month, student position. New hires will be placed on the UA student salary schedule, based on education and experience. Please note that this rate does not include the geographic differential of 38%.
