Job Description
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a dynamic Manager of Communications to lead a team to write internal communications such as intranet stories, emails, social media posts and more. The ideal candidate will be able to embed our mission, vision and values into their work. The candidate is required to research and develop fresh and engaging content - both original ideas and as assigned by company leadership- for all internal and external communications channels.
Develop and maintain relationships with leaders and support their communications needs and efforts, proactively helping to define scope for projects that range from a one-off item to an entire communications campaign. Use a wide variety of traditional and digital publishing tools to produce the right communications to best reach, inform, engage and influence stakeholders. Manage corporate email creation and distribution, ensuring timeliness and content accuracy
Work closely with the communications team on special projects that further creative concepts for taking our creative approach to the next level. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communication tactics and adjust communication plans as needed. Ensure that content developed is consistent with SSAI published brand and style guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism or a related field and 10 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
A strong candidate brings phenomenal communication and copywriting skills to the role
Experience in corporate communications and project management are also important
Excellent copywriting and editing skills
Able to work, think and write quickly
Solid grasp of pop culture and cultural references that resonate with a multigenerational audience
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities; can seamlessly manage multiple and competing priorities
Working knowledge of MS Office
Can work autonomously while also being a team player on larger projects
Willing to support after hours on occasion if needed for high-priority communications
Good graphic design sensibilities
Knowledge of social media content creation, tools and engagement methods
