Job Description
Bay Eye Care Center is currently seeking qualified candidates for the Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician and Scribe positions. Responsible for performing a variety of skilled duties associated with the eye and assist the physician while serving as an integral member of the health care team in the treatment and care of patient's ocular health. WHAT IS EXPECTED: Initiate and perform effective documentation of the patients chief complaint, history of present illness, medical history, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with compliance guidelines. Perform testing to include visual acuity measurement, lensometry, testing pupil function, ocular motility, tonometry, confrontation visual field testing, and other patient services as requested by the ophthalmologist Refractometry; Manual Manifest Refraction to draft preliminary glasses prescription and Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments in exam room or treatment room, including prepping patients for sterile procedures. Educate patients regarding administration of medications, and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician. Perform various specialty testing ordered by physician Ex. (Pachymetry, Glare testing [BAT], Potential Acuity Meter [PAM], Color vision testing. Perform other duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
H.S Graduate/GED. Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred, or willingness to obtain certification. Medical Terminology, Medical Assistant helpful. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer & typing skills, outstanding interpersonal skills as well as a neat professional appearance. We will offer on-the-job training program, if no experience. Personal initiative a MUST.
Full and Part Time positions available, for office locations in Bay City and Midland. Salary to be discussed based on experience.
