Job Description
We are Florida Foot & Ankle Specialists, a newer Podiatry practice in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Medical Assistant to join our team and provide amazing care to our patients! This isn’t your typical stuffy and boring doctor’s office. We have a beautiful clinic that truly caters to our patients' needs and you’ll be working with Dr. Spector, a younger, charismatic doctor who makes each day fun and enjoyable. We utilize the most advanced software and technology possible to ensure a consistent 5-star patient experience. Key Responsibilities Include:
Being the one of the main points of contact for our patients when welcoming them back to exam rooms; and the one of the last points of contact when they are leaving
Verifying each patient’s identity against all records and reports to be reviewed/documented during the visit
Documenting a brief narrative outlining the patient’s reason for the visit and preparing them for the Provider
Taking and charting the patient’s vital signs and changes in medical conditions in accordance with established practices
Tracking and relaying to patients the results of labs and diagnostic studies
Sending medication orders to pharmacies as ordered by the Provider
Ensuring at all times that examination rooms are prepped, orderly, and clean
Performing routine inventories and replenishing medical supplies and disposables maintained in each examination room and laboratory in accordance with established levels
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
Assist patients with paperwork as needed
Close out visit with patients, dispense products, explain instructions, etc. as necessary
Obtain x-rays, consents and pictures as directed
Documentation, preparation, and submission of culture and biopsy specimens as needed
Attend seminars, webinars, training, and meetings as necessary
Performing other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Must have at least 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in a podiatry office
Proficient ability to develop positive professional and business relationships with patients, co-workers and Providers
Well-developed technical competencies, attention to detail, and ability to follow up in a timely manner
An appropriate level of skill as this relates to the preparation of and the entering of data into an EMR
Attention to detail and accuracy in entering patient data, maintaining medical records, communicating with patients, giving injections and administering related medical procedures, and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis
Well-developed time and task management skills
Maintains patient confidentiality
Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA/HITECH privacy/security guidelines
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of clinic processes and medical terminology
Strong computer knowledge and skills with a minimum typing speed of 30 AWPM. Able to navigate multiple system applications.
Ability to interact with patients of all ages and developmental stages from all economic, educational, social, etc., backgrounds
Ability to treat all patients with respect
Ability to effectively communicate effectively in both verbal and written mediums
Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to escalate concerns
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail
Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
