Job Description
Job Qualifications: MUST be either LPN with Orthopaedic experience/Registered Orthopaedic Tech with experience/Orthopaedic Technologist Certified with experience or Certified Athletic Trainer. Must have casting and clinical experience.

Job Duties
1) Prep patient charts in eClinicalWorks. Discuss scheduling issues with the Supervisor as necessary.
2) Prepare the clinical pods prior to the start of clinic. Ensure that all exam rooms and cast room are stocked with clinical supplies. Clean exam rooms and cast room after each clinic. Avoid waste.
3) Room patients and obtain the information regarding the patient’s visit from the patient.
4) Serve as a patient liaison both in clinic and via the telephone. Answer patient questions as necessary.
5) Remove and/or apply casts, splints, and dressing changes.
6) Remove sutures and staples.
7) Draw and set up for injections.
8) Order appropriate xrays per physician order.
9) Apply braces and complete appropriate paperwork ensuring proper authorization before dispensing.
10) Address all patient phone calls and telephone encounters by end of the work day. Process all prescription orders via scripts or telephone when appropriate by the end of the work day.
11) Provide educational materials to patients and discuss any prescriptions provided.
12) Manage all referrals; ensuring that medical records (MRI, etc) accompany any patient for appointment.
13) Schedule surgical procedures as necessary and coordinate with the patient. Schedule the first post-operative appointment with the patient.
14) Complete procedure scheduling form as needed.
15) Prepare miscellaneous paperwork needing physician signature.
16) Request office schedule changes for the physician.
17) Perform medical assistant duties for other assistants who are out of the office for any reason as outlined in the “buddy system/covering tech” protocol.
18) In the event of an in office injection, prepare and stock procedure room appropriately, assist physician during procedure as needed, and clean the work area thoroughly.
19) Responsible for proper documentation.
20) Responsible for routing of all patient notes and letters to referring physicians and PCPs.
21) Other duties as assigned.
