Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity as an Orderly/Admin/CMA? If so - we have a fantastic opportunity for you!!! Eye Surgeons of Indiana/Surgical Care Center is looking for an Orderly + Admin support for our Indianapolis, Indiana location!
What does an orderly do? One of the primary duties of our patient orderly is to assist patients following their procedure. This could mean helping them transfer from bed to wheel chair or wheel chair to their car. Helping them with their discharge and escorting them out of the building. You may also help with other tasks as necessary to keep the surgical center running smoothly.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY
· Capacity to work independently.
· Demonstrated effective and appropriate customer service skills.
· Demonstrated ability in handling patient confidentiality.
· Strong organization with attention to detail.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated proficiency skills in Windows, experience with practice management software, and computer keyboarding skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Call patient’s transportation to notify them of the patient’s status.
· At the direction of the nursing staff, escort patients via wheelchair to their vehicle.
· Observe patients while awaiting transportation.
· Keep track of patients who have been discharged.
· Always remain in communication with nursing staff and transportation department.
· Responsible for patient check-in, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner.
· Review patient Rights and Responsibilities and sign appropriate documents at check-in.
· Assemble charts for future appointment.
· Scan documents.
· Welcome and check-in visitors and observers. Obtain ID and distribute appropriate PPE.
· Assist with stocking supplies and linens as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Job Type: Full time 30 hours
Physical Requirements: Must have good manual dexterity and ability to write with pencil or ink pen. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to push/pull up to 350 lbs. with assistance. Ability to assist with patient transfers from bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to vehicle, etc.
