UPMC is looking for a Full Time Medical Assistant to work at UPMC Magee Outpatient Clinic.
The UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital Outpatient Clinic is a large academic hospital practice with our primary providers of resident physicians working under the supervision of attending physicians in addition to our advanced practice providers or APPs (i.e. physician assistants and nurse practitioners). Although a large practice, we strive for promoting continuity of patient care. To meet this very important objective, patients are scheduled for obstetrical & gynecological appointments with both our resident physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). Our highly-skilled, compassionate Medical Assistants enjoy high levels of autonomy in a team-based environment working a desirable shift.
Medical Assistants work on a full time daylight shifts to ensure patient care coverage. This position does not work weekends! This role travels to support UPMC Magee Outpatient Clinic Neighborhood Centers in Oakland, Clairton, Mount Oliver, Wilkinsburg, and Monroeville. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
Responsibilities:
Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance.
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
Perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program or minimum of one year of direct patient care experience preferred.
- Any direct patient care experience preferred
- OB or gynecological experience preferred
- Prior office experience preferred
- EpicCare experience preferred
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
