Electronics Process and Manufacturing Engineering
- Oversees the designs of various electronics manufacturing systems, processes, and methods to ensure the business achieves quality, cost, safety and productivity objectives. Optimizes the footprint and flow of manufacturing activities through the implementation of lean concepts to promote efficiency, quality and effectiveness.
- Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and processes into manufacturing projects and activities.
- Functions as an internal expert and liaison between the manufacturing, engineering and design staff concerning troubleshooting/issues, product design, functional requirements, quality and efficiency.
- Provides technical expertise, and acts as a subject matter expert internally or externally as needed to solve difficult technical issues and meet project, operating and engineering needs.
- Ensures application of ergonomics, workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Plans the effective utilization of production facilities and employees.
- Develops and proactively initiates process improvement actions to develop advanced cost-effective solutions, improve quality and delivery as well as reduce process variation and waste.
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology, development and industry and standards. Provides tangible feedback to improve product quality. Plans and allocates resources for new projects and future growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages, controls and recommends budgets within approved guidelines.
- Develops and revises departmental policies, procedures and guidelines to meet business needs.
- Key driver in development of overall production/manufacturing strategic plan
- In partnership with human resources, performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment which includes experience in electronics assembly and computer-based programming and testing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Management skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively lead and develop direct reports to accomplish manufacturing and assembly cost, quality, and efficiency objectives and organizational initiatives and goals.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, concepts, practices and procedures. Ability to analyze complex situations, provide advanced troubleshooting and maximize efficiencies. Advanced knowledge of modern flow manufacturing methods and techniques used in a fast-paced assembly environment.
- Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing engineering principles, concepts, practices and theories, particularly relative to DFMA, mistake-proofing, and poke-yoke and other six sigma techniques.
- Advanced level knowledge of and skills in electronics manufacturing and assembly
- Demonstrated skills and experience in successfully leading projects from conception to completion and collaborating effectively with various teams for optimal results
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels throughout the organization and external vendors, strong customer service orientation, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive for results.
- General business acumen that demonstrates an understanding of the impact of product costs, manufacturing labor and overhead, and tooling depreciation on the gross margin of a product as well as the impact of departmental budgeting and expenses on the operating profit of the company.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project), and engineering related computer systems/applications or equivalent.
