Job Description
Position: Certified Medical Assistant/ Clinical Medical Assistant (Front/Back Office)
Certified Medical Assistant Job Purpose: Helps patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the clinic of health care providers.
Administrative duties:
· Using computer applications and payment devices
· Answering telephones
· Greeting patients
· Updating and filing patient medical records
· Recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
· Verifying Insurance
· Coding and filling out insurance forms/claims
· Scheduling appointments
· Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
Certified Medical Assistant Job Duties:
· Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
· Triages patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room and taking vitals, verifies patient information via interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; and confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
· Assists physician during examinations by preparing laboratory specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; preparing patients for x-rays; removing sutures; changing dressings.
· Keeps clinical supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
· Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
· Keeps waiting and examining rooms neat and clean.
Skills/Qualifications: Practice management application such as eClinicalWorks or similar, Clinical Skills, Radiology (x-ray) certified, Effective Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Procedural Skills, Documentation Skills, Verbal Communication, Inventory Control, Planning, Dependability, Medical Teamwork.
Requirements: Certification and experience are required or must be Certification eligible, if not already certified. Must understand medical terminology and the importance of customer satisfaction, and team player environment.
Must have professional demeanor, excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills.
