Position Summary
The Plant Accountant Associate will maintain the fixed asset and plant records for South Jersey Industries’ regulated utilities companies, including capital authorizations, unitizations, retirements, depreciation, AFUDC, asset retirement obligations, and lease accounting. This Associate will be responsible for accurate tracking of stub and main extensions, as well as ensuring reimbursable projects are appropriately monitored. This team member will provide support to leaders and senior accountants in the planning and execution of tasks supporting the department. This Associate will also support process improvements and assist leaders in developing new routine methods. This position will also partner with other accountants and stakeholders, including analyzing and presenting data along with recommendations. Additionally, the Plant Accountant Associate takes ownership to ensure issues are resolved effectively. Essential Functions:
- Prepare well documented, accurate, and timely work products
- Ensure work is compliant with GAAP and FERC
- Effectively communicate with other key team members
- Participate in process improvements and special projects
- Ensure SOX controls compliance
- Update and maintain appropriate policies and procedures
- Support the annual regulatory reports filing process
- Provide information to auditors on an as-needed basis
Qualifications
Required Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 0 years of relevant experience
- Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
