POSITION SUMMARY
Applying engineering and chemistry techniques, assists in the improvement of quality and manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production. Assist in equipment and processes design to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and to promote safety, quality and reliability. Assess current equipment, methods and processes, and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoot and repair equipment and processes. Shows results in reports. Applies themselves in laboratory setting as needed follows good GLP. May train personnel in equipment and method usage and processes. Performs work under minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
Process Lab and Process Management (65%)
Develop Design of Experiments for Pilot Plant Scale-Up and Production Scale-Up.
Execute Design of Experiments for Pilot Plant Scale-Up and Production Scale-Up.
Analyze Design of Experiment data identifying result compared to expectations and opportunities for improvement.
Operates and ensures pilot plant machines/production equipment is prepared for operation and installed following protocols and procedures, and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency and ensures are functioning to specifications.
Assist in identifying, developing and implementing process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value added activities.
Plan, develop and implement quality and manufacturing process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.
Executes required lab testing for experiments completed in the pilot plant.
Provide support on any production/product/quality issues as required.
Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.
Lead/direct the installation and start-up of new processes and equipment
Data Analysis/Technical Management (20%):
Analyze product/process data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.

Ensure all operations and processes comply with ISO/QMS requirements.
Develop work instructions and provide training on new and improved equipment and processes.
Project Management (15%):
Handles complex issues and problems and refers/seeks guidance on only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
Expected to work independently to communicate effectively, in a timely manner and use basic project management techniques to keep projects on tasks based on dynamic business priorities.
Develop a rapport with multiple Plant Leadership Teams, QA Team, and R&D personnel. Coordinate QA efforts with R&D and vice versa.
Performs other directly related appropriate duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.
May lead the training of department employees in QC procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
0-2 years’ experience working in a lab environment and/or pilot plant required.
Typically requires accredited Technical School Training or an Associate’s Degree in a STEM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or equivalent experience
Specialized Skills and Experience:
Strong technical knowledge of chemistry in the following area(s): cementitious chemistry, epoxy liquids, latex, and/or any LATICRETE product lines highly preferred.
Previous experience with color matching and knowledge or experience utilizing a colorimeter highly desired.
Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans and prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
Ability to do simple math calculations, input data into a computer and analyze data is required.
Advanced computer/technical skills including demonstrated experience using Access, ACT, Excel, Word and Strong ERP software knowledge.
Able to participate in Quality Control and Environmental Safety Organizations.
Able to work independently with minimal oversight.
Excellent record keeping, documentation and organizational skills.
Able to manage multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with shifting priorities, deadlines and focus.
Must be adaptable and flexible.
Travel Requirement:
Must be able to travel 25-50%.
