Job Description
Summary
The Payroll Clerk is an entry-level role, responsible for accurate and efficient completion of payroll and payroll tax processing for over 400 contract employees working throughout the United States. This is a full-time position, working 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST Monday through Friday. Some additional time may be required occasionally to meet the demands of holiday-shortened work weeks and quarterly tax reporting. The Payroll Clerk reports to the Accounting Team Lead in the Finance Department. This role is a hybrid of remote and office-based work in our Canton, Ohio office.
Essential Functions:
Process weekly payrolls for contract employees working nationwide, including making timely payroll tax deposits.
Process payroll adjustments and corrections as necessary.
Prepare general journal entries for payroll transactions and submit them to the Accounting Team Lead for posting to the general ledger.
Assist with reconciling payroll data weekly, monthly and quarterly.
Assist with periodic (monthly, quarterly and annually) payroll and payroll tax reporting.
Provide support services to contract employees, the operations team, and others related to payroll matters.
Administer garnishment payments and various employee benefits contributions.
Handle new hire reporting.
Look for opportunities to automate/improve daily payroll operations and cut costs.

Mathematical proficiency.
Associate’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related fields preferred (or equivalent experience).
0-3 years experience in an office setting, preferably in processing multi-state payroll.
Excellent customer service skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of people in a variety of modes (email, phone, face-to-face, etc).
Flexible team player with a positive attitude, integrity, and honesty.
