Summary
Under administrative direction, work involves planning and directing the operation and maintenance of the CrossPlex venue, including the Bill Harris Arena and natatorium; promotes the use of the sporting and event facilities, negotiates contracts with venue users and manages venue revenues and expenditures. Work is reviewed for departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
Develops and coordinates the development of activity schedules, dates and hours of operations, projections for attendance and revenue and the annual operating calendar.
Develops and implements facility operations and maintenance plans.
Prepares and monitors facility budget, including planning for facility improvements and upgrades.
Negotiates with vendors to secure competitive pricing for services and supplies.
Directs, assists and coordinates the procurement of activities and events; negotiates contracts and agreements with promoters, booking agents and others; promotes the use of auditorium facilities through specialized advertising and public relations programs and through recruiting exhibition and conventions by contacting promoters, booking agents and private organizations.
Provides for control of day-to-day operations; assures the coordination of plans, programs and events; conducts post-event operational and financial review and analysis.
Establishes and maintains safety protocols, emergency procedures, and security measures.
Oversees facility security, cleaning, janitorial, and maintenance activities.
Monitors and maintains all sports equipment and facilities.
Assures the operation of the facility is conducted in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulations and codes.
Coordinates for timely and effective response to directives and requests received from internal and external organization, agencies, departments and individuals.
Responsible for working with other agencies such as the Convention and Visitors Bureau, hotels and other public venues.
Knowledge-Skills:
Knowledge of sports and venue facility operations and management, including a natatorium.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

Ability to interpret and apply safety standards.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, materials, and supplies.
Ability to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.
Ability to coordinate with staff, contractors, and vendors.

Knowledge of sports rules and regulations.
Knowledge of sports equipment maintenance and replacement.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies.
Proficiency with computer programs, including office software
Minimum Qualifications:
Ten or more years of experience managing &/or operating a venue of a similar size facility (750,000 square foot, multi-purpose athletic and meeting facility)
Experience managing &/or operating a multi-sport facility
Experience supervising staff
Experience managing a budget, including accounting for revenue and expenses.
