Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The University of Maryland’s (UMD) Procurement & Business Services department is seeking proactive problem solvers to join our growing team of procurement professionals who serve the diverse needs of our research and broader university community. This exempt regular position is eligible for telework. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The University is seeking a Vendor Management Coordinator. This role is primarily responsible for managing and maintaining a high quality, compliant, and best-in-class vendor master file in the University’s system of record for vendor data. This position interacts with procurement staff and management, university administration, campus customers, Accounts Payable, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather, evaluate, maintain and update all required vendor data.
The individual in this position combines vendor data management experience and the use of vendor management tools such as the IRS On-Line Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Matching Program and W9 management process.
This role performs a variety of activities including review and approval of new vendor record requests, confirming vendor data provided, ensuring that vendors are not duplicated in the database, working with others to cleanse and update the database ensuring accuracy of data, researching and confirming requests to changes in vendor data for fraud prevention, confirming the status of minority and small business suppliers and ensuring they are properly coded, performing periodic vendor analyses to make culling determinations, and continuously exploring ways to improve the efficiency of adding and maintaining vendors, contributing to solution implementation allowing for improved capture of vendor data leading to a high confidence in data integrity and reporting accuracy.
Responsible for sharing information regarding the importance of vendor data accuracy and assisting in the training of Procurement staff and others regarding the process of adding and maintaining a compliant vendor file.
This position also provides customer support services for Shell Shop, the UMD eProcurement solution.
Minimum Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Three (3) years of related work experience with supply chain and procurement analytics, procurement, project management, vendor data management, and regulatory reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This role requires attention to detail along with the ability to focus on details while understanding a broader perspective.
Demonstrated excellent written, oral, and listening skills.
Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality related to sensitive information.
Demonstrated organizational, collaboration, and decision making skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, google tools, and project management tools. Understanding of sensitive data and importance of data security.
Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills with a teamwork orientation. This includes a proven ability to manage across the organization working effectively with a wide variety of individuals with varying needs and interests. Interactions will range from working with Systems staff to Accounts Payable specialists to Procurement peers to Academic Business Officers and Financial Managers.
Demonstrated project management skills coupled with the ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent assignments through to completion.

This access is for confirming Tax Identification Number and related vendor information.
Preferences:Preferences:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business or supply management.
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM or C.P.M.); Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO); Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB); or Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM).
Direct experience with vendor database management.
